Investigative Committee Examines Circumstances of Alleged Obstruction of Election Campaign

On June 9, at around 16:40, members of the Citizen's Contract party conducted a campaign in connection with the early parliamentary elections scheduled for June 20, 2021. During this event, several individuals allegedly obstructed the electoral campaign near a discussion venue located at 4 Ghapantsyan Street, Kanaker HPP in Yerevan, leading to an argument between those involved in the campaign and those obstructing it, which escalated into a brawl.

According to the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee, a criminal case has been initiated at the Arabkir Division of the Yerevan city police under the characteristics of parts 3 and 4 of Article 149.1 of the RA Criminal Code. This case was transferred to the Arabkir Investigative Division of the Yerevan Investigative Committee on the same day and accepted for prosecution.

An investigation is underway. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the incident.
