Fatal Car Accident on Yerevan-Gyumri Highway: Two Individuals Recognized as Victims, Reports Investigative Committee
On June 10, 2021, around 8:00 PM, a resident of Yerevan, driving an Opel vehicle, was traveling towards Yerevan on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway when the car veered off the road at the 88th km mark, in the administrative area of Lanjik, Shirak Province. The vehicle overturned and collided with a concrete pillar of a bridge, resulting in the driver and two passengers in the car sustaining injuries and being transported to the Gyumri Medical Center. One of the passengers did not regain consciousness and died the same day.
This information has been reported by the Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. A criminal case has been initiated in the Shirak Province Investigative Division, specifically in the Artik and Ani investigative departments, under part 2 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. Two individuals have been recognized as victims.
During the preliminary investigation, several investigative actions were carried out, including an examination of the scene, collection of samples, and the clothing of the individuals inside the vehicle. Medical and forensic examinations have been appointed to ascertain crucial circumstances pertinent to the case. The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify eyewitnesses.
