Decision to Detain Mikayel Minasian Made
The First Instance General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan has approved the request of the State Revenue Committee investigator and made a decision to detain Mikayel Minasian, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan. This information was confirmed in an interview with Aurora News by Gor Abrahamyan, advisor to the Attorney General of Armenia.
It is noteworthy that Minasian has been implicated as a defendant in a criminal case being investigated by the State Revenue Committee, charged with illegal enrichment, money laundering, and submitting false information in declarations. A decision to detain him was previously made on May 6, 2020; however, on December 20, the Court of Appeals overturned that decision and sent the case back for a new trial in the first instance.
