Geneva Authorities Describe Upcoming Putin-Biden Summit as a 'Historic Event'
The Geneva municipality has announced that it is a great honor to be chosen as the site for the upcoming summit between Russia and the USA, taking place on June 16 at the La Grange villa. In a statement released on June 10, the municipality categorized this meeting alongside other historical events, such as the Soviet-American summit of 1985 and the 1955 Geneva Conference involving leaders from the USSR, the USA, the UK, and France.
"La Grange villa will host the Presidents of the USA and Russia on June 16, 2021. This comes 36 years after another historical meeting in Geneva between US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev," noted the Geneva Administrative Council.
"Thirty years earlier," it reminded, "Geneva hosted yet another historic session: the meeting of the 'Big Four'. For the first time since 1945, the winners of World War II—the United States, the USSR, France, and Great Britain—agreed to meet in Geneva under the auspices of the UN to discuss issues of peace and security," the statement added.
