Ready for Border Demarcation with Azerbaijan: Irakli Garibashvili

The global coronavirus pandemic, along with last year's war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, has delayed the border delineation and demarcation process between Georgia and its neighbors. This was stated in a report presented by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to the parliament.

It is noted that Georgia is ready to carry out the necessary work in the near future to restore the process.

"The sessions of the commissions and the process of demarcation and delineation should continue," the document states.

Out of the 480 kilometers of the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan, 314 kilometers have been agreed upon within the framework of the joint commission for demarcation and delineation. However, 166 kilometers are still at the level of expert study. The disputed subject is the David Gareja monastery complex.
