5 Facts to Understand the Published Recording: Varuzhan Geghamyan

5 Facts to understand the published recording: This was stated by Turkish expert Varuzhan Geghamyan.

In 2016, I. Aliyev publicly confessed that the co-chairs and, in fact, most of the "international community" are forcing him to recognize the independence of Artsakh (essentially, the inclusion of Artsakh in Armenia). Prior to that, the defeat of Azerbaijan in the April War had already proven that it could not achieve victory against an organized Armenian state with the force of arms. Until 2018, the Armenian side was negotiating from a position of strength, which everyone, including Azerbaijan, had come to terms with.

After 2018, the Armenian state began to weaken, as the state system and the institutions that comprise it began to crumble—from the military to diplomacy. The capitulator N. Pashinyan, by refusing the previously acquired negotiation package, effectively provided Azerbaijan with a casus belli, a "just cause" for war. Armenia effectively withdrew from the negotiation process, and when one withdraws from negotiations, war begins.

Since 2018, Azerbaijan has begun preparing for war, while Armenia did the exact opposite. Incidentally, the decrease in border tensions by Azerbaijan also affected the deterioration of vigilance in Armenian society, which the capitulator and his team presented as their negotiation achievement. Meanwhile, in reality, Azerbaijan's reduction was a tactical retreat to make the September strike more powerful and surprising for a significant part of the Armenian society believing in the capitulator.

Like in other issues, the capitulator had a problem in the negotiation process not to improve our positions but to maintain his own rating (he directly states this in the recording: "Do you want them to call me a traitor?"). He also brought similar justifications after the capitulation, and that is why he was shouting before the war, "Artsakh is Armenia, and that’s it," while today he refers to the area beyond Goris as "Azerbaijani land." If the capitulator were indeed representing Armenia’s interests, then today, thanks to him, there would not be discussions about giving away our villages in Tavush, Syunik, and Ararat regions to the Turks within the negotiation process.

The published recording once again clearly proves that our country’s leader and his team are not only distant from diplomacy and politics but are also ready to sabotage everything Armenian so that no one receives fame except themselves. They are willing to do so at all costs, even the most expensive one.

The published recording is an important detail for studying this new phase of our history and for clearly establishing the place and role of the guilty parties.
