Import of Turkish Goods to Be Extended for Another 6 Months
The Ministry of Economy has developed and presented to the relevant state governing bodies a draft decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia regarding the "Temporary Ban on the Import of Goods of Turkish Origin to the Republic of Armenia." This was reported to Tert.am by the Ministry of Economy in response to a query about whether there is a decision regarding the extension of the ban on the import of Turkish goods.
"According to the draft decision, the import of goods of Turkish origin to the Republic of Armenia will be banned for another 6 months," the response stated.
It is reminded that the Armenian government prohibited the import of Turkish goods to Armenia starting December 31. The reason for this ban is Turkey's support for Azerbaijan in organizing aggression in Artsakh.
"The ban on the import of goods of Turkish origin not only serves as an economic sanction against Turkey but also, from a security perspective, halts the financial support of Turkey's state treasury from Armenian sources," the justifications for the draft decision state, which is posted on the unified website for the publication of legal acts.
The term of the decision will expire on June 30.
