Azerbaijan's Armed Forces Attempted to Conduct Earthworks in Armenia's Territory, MoD

Recently, attempts by the Azerbaijani armed forces to carry out fortification work in border areas located within the Republic of Armenia have been initiated several times, which, however, have been timely prevented by the appropriate actions of Armenian units.

This was stated in a statement by the information and public relations department of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

According to the MoD, specifically on June 3 of this year, the Azerbaijani armed forces attempted to conduct certain earthworks using a tractor in the border area of the Republic of Armenia. Following warning shots from Armenian units, the work was halted. A clear demand has been made to the Azerbaijani side to prevent a recurrence of such attempts.

Nonetheless, the Azerbaijani armed forces continue to carry out engineering and fortification works in areas where their combat positions are located, without crossing the borders of the Republic of Armenia. Since these areas and the movements conducted by Azerbaijani soldiers there are visible from the Upper Shorzha and Kut villages in the Gegharkunik region, this raises concerns among the local population, which is also reflected in the ombudsman's report.
