Pedestrian Accident in Shirak Province: 72-Year-Old Man Dies on the Spot

On June 3, 2021, at approximately 00:10, a resident of Mayisyan village struck a 72-year-old man while driving a Mercedes on a section of road towards Marmashen village. The accident occurred on the first kilometer of the same stretch of road, resulting in the pedestrian’s immediate death from his injuries, as reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated by the Shirak Regional Investigative Division of the Investigative Committee under Part 2 of Article 242 of the Armenian Criminal Code, which pertains to violations of road traffic safety requirements or rules for the operation of vehicles.

During the pre-investigation stage, examinations of the accident scene, the deceased, and the vehicle have been conducted, the driver has been interrogated, and a forensic medical examination of the body has been ordered. The investigation is ongoing.

Notice: The suspected or accused party is presumed innocent until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law as per a legally binding verdict from the court.
