Every Minute There is a Risk of Clashes Between Armenians and Azerbaijanis: What is Happening in Verin Shorja
The head of the Verin Shorja community spoke to Sputnik Armenia about the daily lives of villagers living near Azerbaijanis and the ongoing efforts to address border tensions.
Artjom Yeranosyan, the head of Verin Shorja, is perplexed by the events occurring at the borders of Armenia. He stated that he is still unable to comprehend how Azerbaijanis advanced in just one day and have remained within 300-400 meters of their crops for the past three weeks.
“They have advanced along the pasture lands and have reached the edge of our crops. Where we are planting, they have come within 300-400 meters. They have pulled the livestock back towards Vardenis. I do not understand what they are doing or what they are thinking. I do not understand what is happening,” he said in an interview with the news outlet.
When asked what results the trilateral negotiations that took place in Moscow yesterday might yield, Yeranosyan found it difficult to respond, but this does not prevent villagers from continuing with their day-to-day activities while keeping the threat of renewed war in mind.
“I am optimistic; I am engaged in agricultural work, but we cannot say even at this moment, while we are talking, what might happen. Every minute there is a risk of clashes between Armenians and Azerbaijanis. When the enemy is in front of you, you might think of something good, but we are neither feeling despair nor thinking poorly,” Yeranosyan noted.
According to him, despite the danger, there is currently no need to arm the villagers, as experienced military personnel are taking care of what needs to be done. For more details, refer to the original source.
