24-Year-Old Man Steals Cars Through Fraud, 20 Victims Affected

The Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Yerevan city has revealed the circumstances of large-scale thefts committed by a group of individuals through deception and abuse of trust.

According to the data gathered during the investigation, a 24-year-old man, after learning about various advertisements for car sales on the lis.am website, fraudulently stole other people's property of particularly large value. Between 2019 and 2020, under the pretense of purchasing vehicles with scheduled payments and without paying any money, he took possession of these cars.

Subsequently, he posted advertisements about the vehicles on the lis.am website with the intent to sell them at a higher price. By establishing contact with various individuals and instilling confidence in them to finalize transactions regarding the cars, he caused significant property damage to 20 actual owners of the vehicles.

Based on the compiled evidence, the 24-year-old man has been charged, and a measure of restraint has been applied in the form of detention. The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been forwarded to the court with an indictment.

Note: The suspect or defendant in the alleged crime is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia through a legally binding court verdict.
