Why Were the Corpses Found in Disrespectful Condition? The Minister Explains
Seeing these photos, I felt pain that the relatives of the soldiers had to experience that pain again. The specific incident recorded at the Abovyan branch has already had clear repercussions. We have preserved remains and corpses in all of our morgues, some of which are identified, meaning we know exactly to whom they belong.
This was stated by the Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan in an interview with Petros Ghazaryan, addressing the controversial photos that emerged from the morgue.
To the question of why the bodies were in disrespectful condition and contrary to moral values, packed into rooms, Avanesyan responded: “Yes, they have not been kept in an appropriate condition at that specific location. Parents have continuously visited the forensic medical branches; the doors of those centers have always been open before parents. Yes, this was a specific, very bad situation that deserves the strictest assessment, but it is not correct to generalize and spread one specific mistake across the entire system.”
The minister did not rule out that among the remains from which DNA has not been successfully separated, there may also be remains belonging to Azerbaijani soldiers.
