Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense Spreads Another Misinformation: Ministry of Defense of Armenia
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense has spread another piece of misinformation, claiming that on the evening of June 1, 40 Armenian servicemen crossed into Azerbaijani territory, after which Azerbaijani armed forces "forced them to return to their original positions." This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
"It is obvious that such misinformation is being circulated by the Azerbaijani military-political leadership to create an impression in the international community regarding attempts by the Armed Forces of Armenia to escalate the situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and to counterbalance the provocations of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces that penetrated the territory of the Republic of Armenia on May 12 and 13,” states the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
“The Ministry of Defense declares that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia did not cross the border of the Republic of Azerbaijan, neither on June 1 nor in the preceding days, and all claims made by that country’s defense ministry are misinformation being disseminated, the volume of which has significantly increased recently. Notably, just days ago, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense claimed that the Armenian side opened fire both on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and on Azerbaijani positions located in the direction of Shushi, which was denied by, respectively, the Armenian defense agency and the command of the Russian forces carrying out peacekeeping missions in the Republic of Artsakh,” the statement from the Ministry of Defense of Armenia concludes.
