Improper Storage of Bodies and Remains Was My Oversight: Anahit Avanesyan

Dear compatriots, yesterday I would like to apologize to all the relatives regarding the improper storage of bodies and remains recorded at the Abovyan branch of the Forensic Medical Center. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan.

“It was my oversight that, after certain transfers, I did not personally visit again and verify the details of the storage of the bodies. I assure you that over the past year, the Forensic Medical Center has done everything possible to ensure forensic examinations and the identification process. As was mentioned yesterday in the official statement of the Ministry of Health, an internal investigation will be conducted regarding the recorded facts, with appropriate consequences. I find it necessary to reiterate that the ministry has always worked to ensure transparent information and is in constant communication with the relatives of the victims.

Today, the Forensic Medical Center will again publish information on the progress and results of the examinations of the bodies and remains. I note that the bodies and remains in the morgues have already been examined, and information about the results has always been available to the relatives,” she wrote.
