Co-Chairs Should Visit Armenia-Azerbaijan Border, Says Russia's Permanent Representative to OSCE
The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Igor Popov (Russia), Stefan Visconti (France), and Andrew Schofer (USA), could soon agree to visit the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. This was announced today by Alexander Lukashevich, Russia's permanent representative to the OSCE, during an online press conference, as reported by TASS.
“It is very important that the co-chairs (of the OSCE Minsk Group) manage to be in the region soon and assess the situation on the ground, speaking with the parties directly,” he stated. “I believe that such opportunities will arise in the near future,” Lukashevich noted.
It is worth mentioning that Azerbaijani military forces have been located in the area of Lake Sev in Armenia's Syunik province since May 12 and are trying to establish a presence there. A similar situation can also be observed in the regions of Kut, Verin Shorja, and Norabak in Gegharkunik Province.
