New Initiative for Working Mothers Breastfeeding Their Children

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has introduced a new legislative proposal titled "On Amendments and Additions to the Labor Code of Armenia". This proposal focuses on revising the duration of breaks granted to working women who are breastfeeding their children.

According to the Ministry, current regulations allow a breastfeeding mother to receive an additional break of at least half an hour every three hours. The proposed changes would enable mothers to combine the breaks provided for breastfeeding with other breaks intended for rest and meals.

The initiative also plans to give working mothers with children up to 1.5 years old the option to work part-time if they choose. Under current regulations, part-time work is permitted only for mothers with children under one year of age. It is important to note that if mothers opt for part-time work, their pay will correspond to the actual hours worked.
