Brawl Between Local Residents and Group of Yerevan Residents in Araks Village Resulted in Gunfire
According to information from SHAMSHYAN.com, a brawl occurred yesterday, May 30, during which gunfire was heard in the Ararat region. Operational information was received by the Vagharshapat police department that around 21:30 a dispute took place between a group of people in Araks village, escalating into a fight where gunshots were fired.
The operational group of Vagharshapat police, led by department head Rafael Poghosyan, was dispatched to the village. Also arriving was Karen Hakobyan, head of the Ararat regional police department. When questioned by the police about whether such an incident had occurred in the village, many villagers denied the occurrence, claiming it was merely gossip. However, Vagharshapat police were confident based on the operational data received and proceeded to clarify the circumstances of the event.
As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, it was revealed that the dispute arose over domestic issues between local residents, including 29-year-old Grigor B., his friends, 31-year-old Martiros M., 28-year-old Mher H., 30-year-old Petros S., and a Yerevan resident, 21-year-old David G., along with his friends: 21-year-old Gegham K., 25-year-old Robert M., 20-year-old Gagik H., 20-year-old Gurgan G., 20-year-old Vahe K., and 25-year-old Artyom T.
The argument escalated into a brawl resulting in Grigor B. sustaining bodily injuries. According to preliminary information, one of his friends discharged a firearm that was not yet identified, fortunately resulting in no injuries.
The Vagharshapat police, under the leadership of department chief R. Poghosyan and assistant chief of operations Arthur Fishyan, detained Gegham K. on suspicion of hooliganism. He was driving a Mercedes with plate number 50 QO 100, along with his passengers Robert M., Gurgan G., Gagik H., Vahe K., and Artyom T., who was in a Mercedes with plate number 21 AT 211. Shortly after, Grigor B. was also located.
The vehicles have been taken to the protected area of the Vagharshapat police department. The police are undertaking necessary operational-investigative measures to identify and locate other individuals involved in the incident. Investigative materials are being prepared in the investigative division of the Vagharshapat police department regarding the fact. A forensic medical examination has been appointed.
Those apprehended have been released.
