Nikol Pashinyan on Levon Ter-Petrosyan's Statements Made Yesterday

Former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan's perspective on resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is as follows: we should fully hand it over to Azerbaijan and thus close this topic. This opinion was expressed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with the activists of the pre-electoral headquarters of the "Civil Contract" party in Yerevan, addressing Ter-Petrosyan's statements.

Yesterday, in an interview with Armenia Public Television, Ter-Petrosyan spoke about his proposal for resolving the conflict, stating that in the first phase of the resolution, we should return Lachin and Kelbajar while maintaining the Lachin corridor. According to Ter-Petrosyan, in this case, the Lachin corridor would not be a 4-kilometer stretch as it is now, but at least 22 kilometers.

Pashinyan remarked, "Ter-Petrosyan says that this was the situation regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in the past but does not articulate what his vision for the resolution of the issue was then and what it is today. If something is said, it must be said until the end." He noted that the political force that signed the Alexandrapol and Batumi treaties currently accuses the government of betrayal.

The Prime Minister asked why those who signed the Alexandrapol and Batumi treaties are not considered traitors by these individuals. According to the acting Prime Minister, none of the previous authorities have the moral and political right to accuse them. It is also noteworthy that Ter-Petrosyan mentioned that his proposed program regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue did not contain any statement about Nagorno-Karabakh remaining within Azerbaijan.
