Kut Community Leader on Border Situation
After a tense and difficult day yesterday, everything is still calm here today; there are no gunshots so far.
This was stated by the leader of the Kut community, Sima Chitchyan, in an interview with ArmDaily.am. “Last night, around 9 pm, gunshots were heard again. I can’t say from which side the shooting was coming, but there were also sounds of automatic fire in the village; however, we don’t know if they were shooting from our side or theirs. They stand next to each other, with them up top and our ones down below,” he noted.
He emphasized that there had been no gunfire directed towards the village. “The shootings are mainly between the soldiers, but nevertheless, the tension in the village is very high. It is natural that people are afraid, but no family has left the village; where would they go? They can barely survive here with their livestock and their livelihoods; they cannot just leave.”
