If We Do Not Change Our Defense Industry Policy, We Will Remain in the Same Broken Trough: Kocharyan
The defense industry should be the sector that can provide support for the army. This was stated by the second President of Armenia and leader of the 'Hayastan' alliance, Robert Kocharyan, during a meeting with citizens from three administrative districts of Yerevan and the active members of the alliance.
“We have seen that we are surrounded by states for which even the use of airspace has been quite problematic for us. We had a serious import problem for three weeks. This was a very serious lesson for Armenia, but if we do not learn something from this, and do not significantly change our policy regarding the defense industry, then we will remain in the same broken trough. Yes, we need to do this. It is clear that a small country cannot engage in all types of military technology, but we can handle a few key types, modernized. There are countries of our size that have excellent results in the defense industry. We need to have a serious defense industrial complex,” he declared.
