There Is No Issue on the Dismissal of Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Artak Davtyan on the President’s Agenda

The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, is closely monitoring events in and around Armenia. The presidential administration is in constant communication with relevant bodies and agencies.

This was reported by the presidential administration in response to a question from Factinfo. The inquiry was made after a disagreement occurred between the enemy and our military personnel along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Gegharkunik region, during which a video was shared showing Azerbaijanis humiliating Armenian soldiers.

We asked the President to assess the situation around the armed forces and the ongoing events, particularly concerning instances where an Armenian soldier is humiliated by soldiers from an adversarial nation on Armenian territory.

The presidential administration stated that he is following these events closely. We also inquired whether the president plans to raise the issue of the dismissal of the acting Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Chief of General Staff Artak Davtyan, to which they responded: “The President can only take actions that fall within his constitutional powers. Raising the question of the dismissal of the acting Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Staff is beyond the President’s constitutional authority.”
