Muradov Returns from Baku without Encouraging News
General Muradov, the commander of the Russian peacekeepers, was in Baku on a working visit on May 24, and he has returned without any encouraging news for us. Despite his efforts, he has not succeeded in convincing Aliyev to retract the demands for border demarcation and to withdraw troops from Lake Sevan.
He was informed that there is an agreement with Pashinyan to sign a third document before the elections, which would stipulate the basis on which the border delineation work would be carried out, including which map would be used. Azerbaijan is in favor of using the unfavorable USSR map for us, and if Pashinyan does not agree, they threaten to use military force and prevent the elections from taking place. Muradov was directly told that he has made promises and must fulfill them.
