Levon Aronian Defeats World Champion
Grandmaster Levon Aronian continues his participation in the rapid chess FTX Crypto Cup online tournament. In rounds 6-10, Aronian celebrated two victories, suffered two losses, and ended one game in a draw. In the 10th round, Aronian, playing with white pieces, defeated the reigning world champion, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen. With a total of 4.5 points from 10 rounds, Aronian is currently in 12th place. The leaders with 6.5 points are three players: Karuana, Nakamura, and Radjabov.
The FTX Crypto Cup is the latest online tournament organized by world champion Magnus Carlsen as part of the Champions Chess Tour, consisting of 15 rounds. Sixteen chess players are participating, and the prize fund amounts to $320,000. Aronian is still representing the flag of Armenia.
