The Youth World Weightlifting Championship will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from May 23 to 31, where Armenia will be represented by seven athletes.

According to a report by Armenpress, the coaching staff of the youth national team has announced that the male competitors will include Gor Sahakyan (67 kg), Karen Margaryan, Suren Grigoryan (both 81 kg), Garik Karapetyan (96 kg), and Petros Petrosyan (102 kg). The female athletes will be Milena Khachatryan (71 kg) and Liana Gyurjian (81 kg).

Head coach of the Armenian youth weightlifting team, Melik Ghukasyan, stated that the team composition was based on the results of the Armenian championship: “We will participate with the strongest lineup. Recent training camps have yielded positive results, and the weightlifters have reached the desired competitive condition. Everyone has prepared for the championship according to their abilities, but ultimately, the competition platform will show who is the strongest. I can only assure that everything will be fine.”

It is also noteworthy that after this championship, the young weightlifters will begin preparations for the European Championship for 20-23-year-olds, set to take place in September, where, according to coach Melik Ghukasyan, the team will participate with an expanded roster.
