Armenia Strongly Condemns Azerbaijan's Open Armed Aggression

On May 25, a serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces, junior sergeant Gevorg Khurshudyan, was fatally wounded by gunfire from Azerbaijani military units in the Vardenis region of Gegharkunik Province.

We strongly condemn the open armed aggression by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia, which is a violation of international legal norms. Contrary to the calls of the international community, Azerbaijan refuses to withdraw its armed forces from Armenia's sovereign territory, further escalating the situation and undermining regional security and stability.

The conduct of military operations by Azerbaijan on the sovereign territory of Armenia grants the Republic of Armenia the right to take necessary and proportional measures to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and ensure the safety of its population.

It is noteworthy that Azerbaijan is attempting to conceal its illegal military operations in Armenia by spreading false information. The Armenian side is ready to engage in an international investigation to clarify all circumstances surrounding this deadly incident.
