A Dispute Between Armenian and Azerbaijani Soldiers in the Vardenis Region Has Been Resolved Quickly, Says Ministry of Defense

There was a dispute yesterday between Armenian and Azerbaijani soldiers in the Vardenis section of the contact line, confirmed the Armenian Ministry of Defense in a conversation with Aysor.am’s correspondent.

“Yesterday, there was a disagreement between the soldiers, which was resolved quickly,” said the Defense Ministry.

It is worth noting that reports have circulated in the media indicating that Azerbaijani forces have advanced again toward Vardenis, coming so close to the Armenian settlement that they encountered locals face-to-face. When the residents of Vardenis began negotiating with them, asking why they had come there and to go back, the Azerbaijanis insisted otherwise, and an altercation ensued, resulting in the locals being assaulted.

When the beaten Vardenis residents alerted local authorities about the presence of Azerbaijanis approaching their settlement and physically assaulting them, law enforcement officials, after contacting Yerevan, received orders to do nothing and to allow the Azerbaijanis to remain where they had reached.

In fact, the Azerbaijanis have stayed in place after their advance, despite being on the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and have even assaulted local Armenians.
