Negotiations Proceeding by Directions at Local Level, Ministry of Defense Says

High-level negotiations between Armenian and Azerbaijani military personnel have not taken place for five days. The Armenian Ministry of Defense informed “Factinfo” that negotiations are ongoing according to directions at the local level.

Recall that on May 19, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia announced that previously scheduled negotiations had been canceled because the Azerbaijani side did not show up for the discussions.

The news outlet attempted to clarify with the Ministry of Defense whether there is an agreement to resume the interrupted negotiations, but the Ministry stated that there is currently no information about high-level negotiations.

The Minister of Defense is in regular contact with counterparts. As it is already known, on May 12, the Azerbaijani side entered Armenian territory and positioned itself in the mountains of Syunik, Gegharkunik, and Vayots Dzor. As of now, no effective measures have been taken to remove them from Armenian territory.
