Red Berets Dragged and Beat Me: Knight of the Combat Cross
During a protest that took place yesterday on Bagramyan Avenue, police red berets assaulted Yeghishe Botsinyan, a Knight of the Combat Cross of the first degree, who sustained gunshot wounds during the battles in Shushi. Botsinyan recounted the incident to A1+ personally.
"I approached the police and said, 'Shame on you, do not drag the people here, go to the border, the real fight is taking place there, you will fight with the Turk there, and I am ready to go with you.' Upon saying this they started beating me. They damaged my eye, I sustained a concussion and fractures in my ribs," Yeghishe explained.
According to him, he addressed the police near the National Academy of Sciences when he saw that people were being detained. "They dragged me from the Academy to the National Assembly, beating me, threw me into the car like a sack, and continued to beat me inside the car, they took me down to the Opera. I felt worse there, I was nearly suffocating. They called an ambulance for me," he recounted.
Yeghishe moved to Artsakh from Yerevan for military service in 2012, serving in Yeghnikner, and during the 44-day war, he was wounded in several places during the battles in Shushi. The Knight of the Combat Cross prefers not to recall the days of war, stating that they were heavy and brutal. He was discharged on March 3 due to health issues. Currently, he is still in Yerevan, in the process of recovery.
Deputy Head of the Police Public Relations Department Edgar Janoyan informed the media that an internal investigation has been initiated into the incident, and further details will be provided later.
