Marijuana, Pills, and Mobile Phone Parts: Package Entry into Prison Prevented

On May 20, 2021, at approximately 23:20, a report was received from a guard at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia's 'Sevan' penitentiary that a convict was noticed moving behind the second section. Immediately after the alert, the officers arrived at the indicated location but found no one.

After conducting a thorough inspection of the area, they discovered two packages wrapped in duct tape. This was reported by the public relations department of the penitentiary service of the Ministry of Justice.

One of the packages contained substances resembling marijuana, weighing 5.9 and 2.9 grams, as well as a mass resembling hashish, weighing 16 grams, along with a mobile phone and USB cable. The other package included greenish substances resembling marijuana, weighing 22.7 and 0.9 grams, a pill marked 'B 8' resembling Subutex, 4 intact and 1 broken glass vials, as well as another mobile phone, USB cable, headset, and parts of a mobile phone keypad.

Materials are being prepared regarding the incident, and a forensic examination has been appointed.
