We Call on the Acting Prime Minister to Refrain from Making Unilateral Decisions: Edmon Marukyan
Any actions related to the delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line directly involve the human rights issues of every citizen of the Republic of Armenia, particularly those living in border areas. Any international document regarding these matters is subject to mandatory ratification, stated Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' faction during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly.
Any document concerning the delimitation process that does not consider human rights will directly contradict the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, international human rights law, and will ultimately lead to gross violations of the fundamental rights of the state and border residents of Armenia, which is currently occurring.
Signing a document concerning the delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line under any manifestation resulting from possible pressures or the suppression of free will poses risks of subordinating national and state interests, as well as causing unfavorable and irreversible consequences regarding the boundaries of the Republic of Artsakh and the realization of the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh, bringing a heavy burden for future generations of the Armenian people and depriving them of the right to restore justice guaranteed by international law.
We call on the acting Prime Minister to refrain from making unilateral decisions that affect the entire public and state, as well as the future of the nation,” declared Edmon Marukyan.
It should be noted that during a regular cabinet meeting, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated, “The solutions that have been reached in preliminary agreements with our international partners fully correspond to the interests of the Republic of Armenia, and yes, if Azerbaijan fulfills these agreements, I will sign that document.”
