LHK Summons Extraordinary Meeting: 'Another Document Prepared Behind the People's Back'
The LHK is drafting a statement that will serve as the basis for convening an extraordinary session, said Edmond Marukyan, the head of the 'Enlightened Armenia' faction in the National Assembly, during a conversation with journalists. He presented an overview of the statement's content:
“According to the law on the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and international treaties, any document related to political, military, or human rights issues must be ratified by the National Assembly. Yet again, a document is being prepared behind the backs of the people of Armenia, of which neither the members of the National Assembly nor the majority of government officials are informed. Once again, a process is underway without discussions or consultations with the people or their representatives,” Marukyan stated, emphasizing that they are initiating an extraordinary session of the National Assembly.
“The perceptions of the interests of the Republic of Armenia can vary significantly for us, for the Prime Minister, and for other forces. Therefore, this document, which stems from the interests of the Republic of Armenia, should be presented in detail, at least for parliamentary discussion, after which it will be determined whether it aligns with the interests of the Republic or not,” Marukyan added.
It is noteworthy that during the government's latest session, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated: “The solutions that we currently have preliminary agreements on with our international partners fully align with the interests of the Republic of Armenia, and yes, if Azerbaijan fulfills these agreements, I will sign that document.”
