I Need to Familiarize Myself, I Need Time. Kocharian Unaware of the Document

The Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharian stated during a press briefing with reporters in parliament that he is not familiar with the document which acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced he is prepared to sign today.

"I need to familiarize myself. I need time," Kocharian said, adding that he learned about the existence of such a document from the Prime Minister’s statement during a government session.

"The Prime Minister is familiar with the document's content. The committee is not informed at this moment; we will be informed shortly. This is not a document; it is a proposal. I believe you will have information on what format it will be presented in, and what discussions will take place during the process. Naturally, there will also be working discussions. We will see what the permissible way is to allow a member to get acquainted with the document," he added.

Kocharian was also unaware that Pashinyan announced he will sign a third document and noted that he needs to familiarize himself with the statements made by the Prime Minister as well. It is worth mentioning that a meeting of the faction was convened, where many issues were discussed, according to Kocharian.

When asked why it is kept secret what will be signed, Andranik Kocharian responded: "If there was secrecy, the Prime Minister would not have mentioned information about that secrecy." He added that he believes discussions regarding this document will take place in the National Assembly.

"According to the Constitution, any document concerning the territories of Armenia must be discussed in the National Assembly. And there cannot be any issues related to the territories of Armenia," he emphasized.

In response to the statement that Mikayel Minasyan announced the document and raised issues regarding the agreements about the borders of Ararat and Tigranakert, Kocharian urged journalists to address the 'father-in-law'.

"I do not want to circulate the father-in-law's viewpoint; please contact the father-in-law. Mikayel Minasyan is a very informed friend, but for some reason, the information he has relates to the points that are beneficial for him to mention, but the parts that, if he is so informed, deserve mentioning, for some reason, he covers up. Find the dear father-in-law and direct your questions to him," he concluded.
