The Entire Burden of the Situation at the Border Lies on the Soldier, Who Feels No Support from the State: Abrahamyan
According to Tigran Abrahamyan, the head of the 'Hanaket' Analytical Center, the entire responsibility for the situation at the border of Gegharkunik and Syunik regions, as expected, has been swiftly placed on the military leadership and soldiers by the country's political authority.
'The issue is not that the senior military command is completely free of responsibility, but the primary responsibility in any such situation lies with the political leadership of the country. The acting Prime Minister’s chief advisor gave an interview in which he specifically mentioned that after the de-escalation of tensions, the Ministry of Defense and the relevant divisions of the General Staff will determine who is really responsible for all of this, whether there were objective and subjective mistakes and that decisions will be made accordingly,' Abrahamyan wrote.
It appears that from the very beginning, Pashinyan’s political team is absolving their leader and the real culprits of responsibility, shifting the issue to the military personnel. 'I am not concerned about how the Chief of the General Staff or the Minister of Defense feels in this situation; however, it is crucial for me that what the political leadership of the country has done is not in any way laid on the shoulders of diligent, honorable soldiers and commanders who carry out their daily duties properly,' he emphasized.
'It is the soldier who stands at the frontline's heaviest segment, not the officials who appear 'at the scene' due to the political conjuncture of the day, taking quick photographs, giving interviews, and rushing back to their comfortable offices. The entire weight, difficulty, pressure, and responsibility of these days once again rests on the soldier, who feels no protection or support from the state behind him, and ultimately, all the blame for the situation is again placed upon them,' he concluded.
