Patron Davo Has No Opportunity to Leave the Country but Fulfills His Work Duties: Lawyer
The Court of Appeal yesterday lifted the detention of Davit Galstyan (better known by the nickname Patron Davo). Today, information circulated on social media that a minor clash is expected in Syunik soon, and the request to extend Galstyan's detention was rejected to prevent him from delivering expired weapons from Kazakhstan again. According to this, Galstyan is set to travel to Tbilisi tomorrow evening, from where he will fly to Kazakhstan.
Galstyan's lawyer, Armen Harutyunyan, told ArmDaily.am that currently, Galstyan has no opportunity to leave the country. Regarding the information that he is likely to travel to Tbilisi, the lawyer said Galstyan will not go anywhere without notifying the investigative body and obtaining their consent. 'He has no intention of being absent from his homeland, and if there is an issue of absence, he will only do so if it is necessary for the Republic of Armenia, with the permission or consent of the investigative body,' he stated.
When asked whether Mr. Galstyan considers further collaboration with the Ministry of Defense or the current authorities possible in light of the charges against him, the lawyer responded that Mr. Galstyan is a businessman and has never created problems that would hinder him from doing something or doing it poorly. 'He is always ready to serve his homeland. Whatever contracts he had signed, he found it difficult to fulfill those organizationally since he was in detention; however, now from the second he was released, he is already engaged in those affairs, and he will properly fulfill all his contractual obligations,' he added.
