Levon Ter-Petrosyan to Head the Electoral List of the Armenian National Congress in Early Parliamentary Elections

The Armenian National Congress (ANC) has issued a statement regarding its participation in the upcoming early parliamentary elections, which we present below.
“Today, on May 18, the newly elected board of the Armenian National Congress held its inaugural meeting to discuss the party's participation in the upcoming early parliamentary elections. As a result of a comprehensive discussion, the following decision has been made: The Armenian National Congress will participate in the early parliamentary elections scheduled for June 20. The electoral list of the Congress will be headed by Armenia's first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, while the campaign headquarters will be led by the party's vice president, Levon Zurabyan.

In this regard, the ANC board has also adopted the following statement: Armenia is in a gravely critical situation. The statehood of the Armenians, the security of citizens, the borders of the country, its territorial integrity, and the existence of Artsakh are at risk. The current government, having dealt the country and people a severe military defeat, has proved its inability to govern the state. The ensuing governance crisis is further complicated by the internal political crisis and heightened conflict within the country. The people are essentially presented with a choice between a government that has failed in governance and forces striving to restore a criminal-oligarchic exploitative system.

The majority of the public is desperate about such a choice and does not view the elections as a means to resolve the crisis. In such a situation, the Armenian National Congress, guided by its responsibility for the fate of the state and the people, and responding to signals from various segments of society, has decided to participate in the National Assembly's early parliamentary elections scheduled for June 20.

We are confident that it is possible to form a capable and just government in Armenia. Realism, sobriety, political rational thought, honesty towards the people, and the courage to present the truth must prevail in Armenia. Only in this way can the aspirations of the people be realized and a path of progress be taken.”
