CSTO Chairman Issues Relevant Recommendations on Armenian-Azerbaijani Border
On May 17, a phone conversation took place between Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, and Nasrullo Mahmudzoda, the Secretary of the Security Council of Tajikistan and Chairman of the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils.
During the conversation, Armen Grigoryan presented the current situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to Nasrullo Mahmudzoda. The latter emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution to the issue and expressed readiness to support the implementation of mechanisms provided within the framework of the CSTO for resolving the problem.
Armen Grigoryan highlighted the forthcoming meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers scheduled for May 19 as a favorable platform for discussing this issue. During the conversation, Grigoryan stressed that the demands made by the Azerbaijani side have no factual basis, emphasizing the urgent and complete withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from those territories.
In response, Nasrullo Mahmudzoda added that the President of Tajikistan and Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council, Emomali Rahmon, had already issued relevant instructions for a comprehensive discussion of this issue during the upcoming CSTO Foreign Ministers' Committee meeting.
