Clash Between Azerbaijanis and Peacekeepers in Shushi

In a phone conversation with the ‘Media Radio’, the commander of the Armed Forces, Vova Vardanov, reported that a verbal altercation escalated into a clash between Russian peacekeepers and Azerbaijani military personnel in Shushi, due to the latter's brazen behavior.

“A few hours ago, Armenian drivers witnessed the insolent conduct of Turkish soldiers at the lower post in Shushi, which prompted a reprimand from the Russian peacekeepers. The Azerbaijanis did not appreciate this, leading to a tug of war, fistfights, and brandishing of weapons. The Russians brought in 3-4 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, with their guns pointed at the Turks, threatening that they would open fire. A company of Turks rapidly descended from Shushi, armed and tearing down dividing nets,” Vardanov recounted. “Drivers were quickly removed from the area to avoid witnessing the escalating situation. An hour later, a new route was opened.”
