We've Seen Two Wars, But Nothing Like This: Kut Village Mayor

The situation in the border community of Kut in Gegharkunik Province remains unchanged. This was reported to NEWS.am by the mayor of Kut, Sima Chitchyan.

“It is as it was, they are sitting above, and ours are below, and there is still no news,” she said.

Chitchyan noted that not only the school but also the houses in the village are under fire.

“The village administration and the school buildings are under threat; classes may not be held, but the children are in the village. We’ll see what happens; we are waiting in uncertainty,” she said.

She added that pastures fall near enemy positions and it is not safe to take livestock to the grazing areas.

According to the Kut village mayor, they have never encountered such a situation and that is why they are so anxious.

“It had never happened that the enemy came near the village, and we could see them; we've seen two wars, but we have never seen anything like this,” she said.

Chitchyan mentioned that the Governor of Gegharkunik, the Human Rights Defender, and MPs have visited the village, but these visits have been unproductive. She believes that border demarcation should take place so that such issues do not arise again.

It is noteworthy that days ago, Azerbaijani soldiers advanced in the border areas of Syunik and Gegharkunik and have not yet retreated.
