The President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, made a working visit to the communities of Yeghdzahogh, Mets Shen, Hin Shen, and Lisagor in the Shushi region on May 16, where he held meetings with the residents.
During the discussions, they addressed the security and socio-economic challenges and issues that have emerged in the post-war period, as well as the necessary steps for their resolution.
Speaking about security issues and guarantees, Arayik Harutyunyan emphasized that the Defense Army and the Russian peacekeeping forces are ensuring the security of the Artsakh people. He noted that the efforts aimed at restoring the territorial integrity of the Republic will be centralized in the political, rather than military, domain.
Regarding socio-economic development, the president highlighted that the resolution of issues concerning these strategically important communities and their residents is under the special attention of the Artsakh government, and several programs are already planned in this direction.
Arayik Harutyunyan announced that the drinking water issues of the communities will be addressed in the near future, and pavement works on the roads leading to Mets Shen and Hin Shen from the Goris-Stepanakert highway will also begin.
While discussing housing construction and housing security programs, the president pointed out that the government is taking steps to assess and utilize the existing residential fund in the communities as effectively as possible. According to Harutyunyan, new single-family homes are also planned to be built in these communities as part of resettlement and providing housing for young families, with active support from the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.
Accompanying the president during the visit were the Secretary of the Artsakh Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hayk Khanuymyants, and the Deputy Director of the National Security Service Ararat Melkumyan.
