Azerbaijanis Continue to Advance in Gegharkunik Direction: Geghamasar Community Leader

The enemy has not retreated in recent days; instead, they continue to advance and establish positions. This information has been confirmed by Hakob Avetyan, the head of the Geghamasar community in Gegharkunik region, in an interview with 'Factinfo'.

'They did not take a single step back yesterday; in fact, they advanced a little,' he said, noting that the Azerbaijani side has moved several hundred meters further into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.

'As of today, they have once again advanced by 200-300 meters, but the phenomenon is such that they are able to advance. This is very bad, and the tension is increasing as a result. I do not know what consequences this will have,' the community leader stated.

According to him, the problem is that the enemy has brazenly entered the territory of Armenia, violating the border by kilometers. It has been six days since the enemy's troops invaded Armenian territory, and instead of withdrawing as a result of negotiations, they continue to advance.

It is noteworthy that yesterday the Armenian Ministry of Defense unofficially circulated information that the negotiations had ended favorably and that the Azerbaijani troops were supposed to retreat. However, Avetyan mentioned in his conversation with 'Factinfo', 'Both yesterday and today, they have continued their advance. They have tents and have established solid positions. The advance of two days ago is not significant; it is only about 200 meters. Their numbers far exceed ours.'

The enemy is currently located about 4-5 kilometers from Kuty. Avetyan reported that Armenian troops are also stationed in the area, with no panic among the forces, and they are prepared to fight in any manner. Residents of the village are also ready to participate in the defense if necessary.

'If the need arises, the residents will certainly participate in the defense, but at this moment we want to hope that the issue can be resolved through negotiations because we witnessed war a few months ago, and I do not wish for the same to happen again.'

Avetyan also mentioned that they have informed all relevant authorities about the enemy's continuous advances. 'We have great concern that if we have not been able to provide an appropriate response to this issue so far, it is not good; it can create panic, which means we are in a weak position at this moment.'
