Aliyev Cannot Discuss the 'Zangezour Corridor' Issue with the Russian Side
According to the points of the statement made on January 11, 2021, the working group established for discussing the 'Zangezour Corridor' or any corridor issue has not discussed and is not discussing such matters. This was stated in response to a query from 'Haykakan Jamanak' by the office of Acting Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
Earlier, on May 10, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev claimed that there would be a 'Zangezour Corridor.' He noted that the working group formed at the level of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan had taken serious steps.
Aliyev also alleged that 'Russian Railways' are the owners of the Armenian railways, which is why Baku is discussing this matter more with the Russian side.
The office of Mher Grigoryan informed 'Haykakan Jamanak' that discussions at the Deputy Prime Ministers' level are focused on unblocking existing transportation connections in the region.
It is also known that 'Russian Railways' LLC is not the owner of the Armenian railways; the owner of the railway infrastructure is the Republic of Armenia.
