On May 15, 2021, the creative team of 'Syunik Land' set off towards Lake Sevan. This article was published on the 'Syunik Land' website.

The recent dramatic events around the lake, coupled with Azerbaijan's effective aggression towards the lake, have raised deep concerns in Goris and the surrounding villages, especially since many key questions have remained unanswered over the past three to four days. The uncertainty surrounding the current situation is deepening and even taking on a threatening nature as we hear contradicting information from various platforms in the capital.

Therefore, we decided to personally ascend to the lake area, considering our good knowledge of the region. We took the route through the village of Akner (and not through Verishen or Khuznavar). Above the village, at the Khachin Osum or St. Jacob sanctuary, located between the Akni Gorge and the Mtndzor, we met with the Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, Syunik Governor Melikset Poghosyan, and National Assembly members Armen Khachatryan and Narek Ghahramanyan, who were also ascending to Lake Sevan.

Together, we first crossed the Dzagezdor mountain and moved forward. After passing 20 km from the village of Akner, we reached the shore of Lake Sevan… Along the way, we occasionally stopped at the outskirts of Lake Sevan and at the military stations located on the eastern slope of Mt. Ishkhanasar. Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, Governor Melikset Poghosyan, and the MPs were inquiring about the operational situation and existing issues.

One could not help but notice the determination of Armenian soldiers to defend the sacred land of Armenia… From the western shore of the lake (the right side of the lake), we reached the huts located on the eastern or perhaps southeastern shore (there we also met with Spartak Minasyan, the administrative head of Akner village in the Goris community, and Ararat Ordoyan, the administrative head of Verishen village, who informed the Deputy Prime Minister and the Governor about the situation in the vicinity of the lake).

From there, we could have returned to Goris via the road descending to Verishen (the soldiers also considered this route safe), but we preferred to return the same way we came.
