What is the situation in the Armenian community of Israel? Patriarchate representative provides details to Sputnik
There are no Armenians among the victims and casualties of the rocket fire in the city of Lod, Israel. This information was provided to Sputnik by Tiran Hakobyan, a representative of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
It was previously reported that people had died due to the rocket attack in Lod, including a child among the victims.
"During the day, the situation is calm, mostly tense in the evening and night hours. The Armenian churches have not been damaged by the shelling," said Hakobyan.
According to him, life in the country continues in a normal routine, and people are still going to work, which is why no military or state of emergency has been declared. Hakobyan noted that they believe it will be especially tense this evening as May 12 marks the last day of Ramadan (the month of fasting for Muslims).
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has not yet provided official data regarding our compatriots residing in Israel.
Earlier, the military wing of the HAMAS movement, the Al Qassam Brigades, fired hundreds of rockets towards Israel. Representatives of the movement emphasized that the escalation of shelling is linked to the attacks on residential buildings in Palestine.
