Canada Must Speak Out on Protecting Armenia's Territorial Integrity: Michael Chong
Michael Chong, a member of the Canadian Parliament, expressed his concerns regarding the developments occurring at the Armenian border. According to Armenpress, he stated on Twitter that the Canadian government should vocalize the issue of Armenia's territorial integrity.
“I am worried about reports of Azerbaijani troops crossing into Armenia. Trudeau's government, which has allowed arms exports that disrupt the balance of power in the recent war in Nagorno-Karabakh, must speak out on the issue of protecting Armenia's territorial integrity,” said Michael Chong.
Since May 12, certain groups of Azerbaijani armed forces have crossed the state border of Armenia and have conducted operations aimed at encircling Lake Sevan. The Armenian armed forces have carried out tactical counter-actions. As a result of the tactical counter-actions by the Armenian forces, Azerbaijani troops stationed in certain surrounding areas have retreated from their positions. So far, there have been no recorded incidents involving the use of firearms or other weapons by either the Armenian or Azerbaijani armed forces.
Approximately 250 representatives of the Azerbaijani armed forces continue to remain within the state borders of Armenia in certain areas of the Syunik and Gegharkunik provinces.
