VIDEO. Did Azerbaijanis Poison the Water? 'Nothing Currently Hints at That'

After a meeting of the Security Council, Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan spoke to reporters about the incident of water poisoning in Sisian and the reports of soldiers among those affected.

Avanesyan stated that a rapid health response team had been dispatched and samples were taken from all water points. “Investigations are underway, which will soon conclude, and we will present comprehensive information,” she said.

In response to a question from reporters about whether the incident could be linked to the circumstances of Lake Sevan and the possibility that Azerbaijanis had poisoned it, Avanesyan noted, “Nothing currently hints at that. The issue arose due to malfunctions in stormwater and sewage systems, and this problem has now been resolved,” she emphasized.

When asked why the Acting Minister of Health attended the Security Council meeting, Avanesyan said, “I cannot say.”

It is noteworthy that from May 9-11, 13 residents presented symptoms of gastrointestinal infectious diseases at the Sisian Medical Center, five of whom were hospitalized. On May 12, another 14 residents sought help, and an additional 70 cases were identified through home visits.
