Stabbing Incident: Suspect is the 18-Year-Old Son of a School Principal in Yerevan
On May 12, a stabbing incident occurred in Yerevan, with the suspect identified as the 18-year-old son of a school principal operating in the city. According to sources, at around 21:25, the Shengavit Police Department received a report from Astghik Medical Center indicating that a citizen with a "stab wound to the left groin area" had been admitted.
The operational group, led by Criminal Investigation Department Chief Nersisyan and Investigator Mirzoyan, was dispatched to the hospital. According to the medical report, the victim was unable to provide an explanation of the incident at that time.
Shengavit police determined that the victim was 31-year-old Edgar Yeghiazaryan, a resident of Garegin Nzhdeh Street, who had been stabbed near the address 4 on Garegin Nzhdeh Street. While doctors were fighting for E. Yeghiazaryan's life, police discovered that at around 20:45 on the same day, a heated argument had erupted between E. Yeghiazaryan and 18-year-old H. Abrahamyan, a resident of Yerevan. Abrahamyan had stabbed Yeghiazaryan with a knife he had on him and fled the scene, leaving him helpless.
Thanks to the explanatory work by the police, H. Abrahamyan presented himself to the Shengavit Police Department a day later, bringing with him the weapon used in the crime. During the preliminary investigation by the Shengavit Police, E. Yeghiazaryan was given a forensic referral, and H. Abrahamyan was released on his own recognizance.
According to sources, the entire argument was recorded by a camera installed in the yard, and H. Abrahamyan is a student at one of the academic schools in Yerevan, while his mother is the principal of a school in the city. She has reportedly been trying to send her teaching staff to the police to provide a positive character reference for her son.
Edgar Yeghiazaryan is regarded as a respectable individual in his community, having never been involved in similar incidents, and he works as a deputy director at one of the operating private companies in Yerevan. He is currently receiving treatment at home.
