London Prefers Multinational Peacekeeping Forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, Says UK Ambassador in Baku
The UK ambassador to Azerbaijan, James Sharp, stated in an interview with the BBC's Azerbaijani service that London would prefer to see multinational peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh rather than an exclusively Russian contingent. He discussed the role of the United Kingdom in the post-war period.
Sharp also addressed the necessity of exchanging maps of minefields and prisoners of war, as well as the mutual concern over cultural heritage that each side is attempting to use for political purposes to assert its dominance in the region.
“I was here during the conflict... I must note that there are incredible emotions associated with Azerbaijan's victory. I spoke with many Azerbaijanis and I understand them very well,” Sharp commented.
