Iran Calls Back Armenian Ambassador: "Hraparak"
According to the newspaper "Hraparak," the Ambassador of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Artashes Tumanyan, is being recalled to Yerevan. Moreover, the information is contradictory. One source claims that the Iranian side has expressed dissatisfaction with the ambassador's work, which is the reason for the recall. However, Tumanyan has held this position for six years, and the recall might fall within the rotation framework prescribed by the "Law on Diplomatic Service."
Another source indicated that Tumanyan is being brought back to Armenia to be appointed as Deputy Foreign Minister. The fact is that A. Tumanyan served as the first Deputy Foreign Minister from 1999-2000, later became the head of the Presidential Administration, and has previously held positions as a parliament member and head of the tax agency. He is an experienced official, and given the current disorder in the management system and a significant decline in work discipline, they are searching for a capable manager, making him suitable for this position. Mr. Tumanyan read our written inquiry about his recall but did not respond.
