During Kindergarten, Children Must Acquire Specific Knowledge and Skills: Pashinyan

The state educational standards for preschool education will be revised. The government approved the corresponding draft decision at today’s meeting.

Acting Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan mentioned that considering the results of international research regarding the rapid changes occurring in various areas of children's development, there is a necessity to revise the state educational standards for preschool education.

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that this decision represents significant acknowledgment. “With this, we affirm that a kindergarten is not merely a place where parents leave their children from X hour to Y hour, but rather an integral part of education. Preschool education should ensure a smooth transition for children into the general education system. During their time in kindergarten, children should acquire specific knowledge and specific skills. This standard outlines what those should be,” stated Nikol Pashinyan.
