About 250 Buses Did Not Go to Work Today

Approximately 250 buses did not go to work today. This is a significant number in Yerevan, leaving people uncertain about how to get to their workplaces, and we don’t have fuel to operate, said a driver from the Jrvezh bus depot in an interview with NEWS.am.

It should be noted that today, bus and minibus drivers are staging a protest. They are expressing their grievances over the lack of fuel provided to them to carry out their work.

“Every day after our shift, we refuel the buses so we can go to work the next day, but for the past two days, there has been no fuel. If they don’t want us to work, we won’t work,” added another driver, who mentioned that three or four years ago there were even snake eggs in their warehouse, and all spare parts were in a dilapidated state. “Lord have mercy on Taron Margaryan’s father. Back then, there were even restrooms; now, there are none, and you have to walk around in filth. Instead of moving forward, we’re going backward. The word ‘no’ didn’t exist before,” he lamented.

The drivers also raised concerns regarding spare parts. “In normal countries, buses have dedicated lanes, but here due to traffic jams, a bus makes its round in 1 hour and 40 minutes instead of the scheduled 45 minutes. The stops are overcrowded, and if you park in the second lane, you get fined. This large bus crushes the dedicated lane, and they impose fines. When Nikol came, he said they would abolish that, but nothing has changed.”
